Jordanian meal raised £900
Tijdens hun bezoek kregen ze een maaltijd voorgezet die hen inspireerde om, eenmaal weer thuis, een activiteit te organiseren in hun kerkgemeenschap. They held it in the hall of their local church of St John’s Fishponds in Bristol and invited not only members of their local congregation, but also some of their fellow travellers – several of whom travelled long distances to make it to the event. They both prepared the food in advance with the help of their families and friends and were able to cater for over 80 guests. The event raised £900; including £300 from a raffle for which the prizes were all donated.
The meal was a great success, with an ambitious menu including: hummous, babaganoush, several casseroles and a traditional mansaf followed by baklavas and a mint drink - the falafels were a big hit! Both agreed it was a lot of work – but great fun and well worth the effort.
The ladies recently met with Tim Martin, one of the trustees for the UK Friends, and were keen to find out much more about the Institute and to explore other ways in which they might help the Institute in the future.
