School for the Deaf
At the present time the school provides education for over 140 deaf children. If the institute would not exist, most of these pupils would not have the opportunity to receive a quality education.
The school has over 140 learners from 3 to 20 years of age and 24 teachers. The majority of the pupils have the Jordanian nationality, but a small number of children from poorer Arabic countries will sometimes be admitted to the institute. Most of the children live far from Salt or in difficult family circumstances. For these children there is a boarding house with around 120 places.
The school provides four levels of education, from kindergarten through elementary and preparatory schools to secondary levels. In preparatory school students do vocational training and after completing High school many continue with further or higher education. The school has a staff and a children’s library, computer and science laboratories, classes for practical subjects and handicrafts, as well as newly equipped sports facilities, playgrounds and a garden with domestic animals.
